How to Draw Anything (Values and Shading)

Think you can’t draw? Think again! The secret to drawing isn’t talent—it’s learning how to truly see. Every object, no matter how detailed or complex, can be broken down into simple shapes, making it easier to understand and recreate on paper.

Join internationally recognized artist and educator Nicora Gangi for an inspiring Technique Tuesday as she shares the foundational skills every artist should know. Through step-by-step demonstrations, Nicora will teach you how to identify the basic shapes within any subject and use pencil shading (known as value) to create depth, dimension, and realism on the page.

Nicora Gangi earned both her BFA and MFA from Syracuse University and served as a professor in the Syracuse University School of Art and Design for 29 years. An award-winning artist, she has received numerous Grand Prize and First Place honors, has been featured in multiple publications on pastel and watermedia painting, and has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally. Her work is represented by Edgewood Gallery in DeWitt, New York, and Gangi Studio in Florida.

Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to strengthen your drawing foundation, this class will give you practical techniques and the confidence to move beyond the stick figure and begin drawing with intention.
