September 2016 – Mike Jakubowski

Mike Jakubowski of Ocoee FL is an amateur plein-air painter quickly making breakthroughs in the art world. After taking the First Place prize in the 2016 Wekiva Paint Out Quick-Draw, he has gone on to win Honorable Mention in the Winter Park Paint Out Quick-Draw competition; Third Place, non-juried Paint Annapolis MD Dueling Brushes; Honorable Mention, non-juried London Town Paint Out and; Scholarship winner, Paint Easton MD Quick-Draw Rehearsal.

As a plein air landscape painter, he can often be seen on location in the local area spontaneously completing finished works in a few hours time. He’s frequently accompanying The Florida Painters plein air artist group in their similar quest to quickly capture a mood, natural light, or a fleeting inspiration.

The beauty of the urban landscape is a frequent subject of Mike’s work. Look for the hard man-made interactions with soft natural flora, an implied time of day, and a definitive mood established by color and tonal choices.
