Watercolor Painting: From Fluid to Fabulous
Saturday, February 8, 2 – 6pm
Artist Geri Hurlbut
This workshop is for watercolorists who are struggling to balance the fluidity of the medium with the control needed to maintain the integrity of the image.
Participants will learn to successfully blend the looseness of wet-into-wet techniques with just the right amount of control to hold the integrity of their desired image through the use of hard and soft (or lost and found) edges, composition and value. We’ll work from objects and reference photos in the classroom and, weather permitting, we may venture outside for a plein air sketching session.
We’ll focus on three elements of design: composition, value, and contrast using warm and cool color to create strong dynamic works of art… concepts that will easily transfer to your desired choice of subject matter whether it be landscape, architecture, figure or floral.
Geri has taught watercolor painting at the college level at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.
