CLOSED Workshop – Off Camera Flash Photography

Take your photography to a new level by learning how to used light effectively.

Without light we would not have photography.  But mastering it and understanding it is the key to creating images that really stand out.  Understanding the nature of light, how to use available light, light modifiers, reflectors, and flash really is the secrets to successful photography.  Also understanding how flash works and how to use it to mix light is essential to portraiture.  In this class you will learn about natural light, artificial light, and speed lights and how to combine these to create dramatic winning photographs. 

TOPICS will include

• What is light?  The color, the quantity, the duration, and the tools.
• Controlling the sun.  Yes, you have the power.  Learn how to master photography using the sun.
• The Magic Hour or Blue Hour and what is this and why?
• The Nature of Light.  It’s properties, how it reacts in the natural world.
• Flash photography basics.  What types of flash units.  Remotes, Cabled, On Camera, Off Camera.
• Flash photography.  How to mix light, how to over power the sun, how to use color gels, and how to freeze an object.
• Hard Light / Soft Light – What’s the difference.
• Building a portable studio.  What are the components and cost.
• How to use a light meter and the different types of light meters.
• Chasing shadows.  The opposite of light.
• Practical demonstrations. 
• Questions and open discussion.

Micke Adkins is a professional photographer who has taught photography regularly for over 10 years. He has helped hundreds of students learn photography with many going on to become award winning photographers and owners of successful photography businesses. He also offers mentoring and photography training to students all over the world with iHelp sessions.
