Workshop – Fine Art with Colored Pencils

Create Fine Art With Colored Pencils

Artist: Mary Beth Lesko

Skill Level: Beginners and Intermediate

Wednesday, May 24, 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM

In this NEW special workshop, you will create a colored pencil painting using your own photo reference! Mary Beth will provide a photo and black & white copy for your project if you do not have a photo of your own.  There will be two to choose from: Flower or Tomatoes.

If you have taken one of Mary Beth’s workshops before you have worked from a photograph she provided. In this workshop she will teach these same techniques of Fine Art with Colored Pencil using your own photographs as the reference.

If you have not taken one of Mary Beth’s workshops, you should! Mary Beth will teach you the basics of composition, enlarging the image, and transferring to professional grade paper. You will practice various colored pencil techniques of layering color, creating textures, and shadows. Here is your chance to create a truly original piece of art with colored pencil, a versatile, durable, and portable medium that should be part of any artist’s skill set.

Mary Beth Lesko is a prolific artist and experienced instructor. She has specialized in colored pencil as an art medium for more than 14 years and her work has been shown extensively at galleries, including the SoBo Gallery in Winter Garden. “The artwork done in colored pencil is now being accepted by galleries and museums as a respected fine art medium! Many pencil manufacturers are now following lightfast guidelines established by The Colored Pencil Society of America to manufacture pigments that can withstand light and not fade over time. This makes the value of an art piece immeasurable when it hangs in galleries, a museum or in a private home or business.” -MBL

What People Are Saying About Mary Beth Lesko’s workshops:

Mary Beth is a very skilled and talented artist. I was so appreciative of how well prepared and organized she was to teach an entry workshop. She answered many questions, gave us examples to learn from and she walked around the class making a great effort to help everyone. Since taking her workshop I have enjoyed doing some colored pencil drawings at home. I also ordered the instruction book she highly recommended. I felt her workshop was very productive and educational. Thank You! –KC 1-18-17
