Botanical Portraits with Colored Pencil
Saturday, March 16, 10am – 3pm (Note: The date of this workshop has changed. The original date was Mar 2)
Artist Mary Beth Lesko
Colored pencil is increasingly appreciated as a medium for botanical art and has become extremely popular. It is recognized by the American Society of Botanical Art and the Colored Pencil Society of America, and is accepted by botanical art collectors.
In this workshop we look at the basic techniques of line and tonal drawing, describe the plant material in outline and help the participant develop skills and increase his/her confidence in their ability to draw form accurately.
Participants will be able to describe the plant material in outline and detail, then be able to give that line drawing form through tonal shading and color application.
We will use color values and learn to mix and layer the colored pencils to achieve the correct colors of the subject material.
Paper will be provided by Instructor.
Students should bring:
Prismacolor Pencils – 24 count minimum, or any other professional colored Pencils – Faber Castell Polychromos, Derwent, etc.
