DESCRIPTION:
Step into the quiet, intentional art of Japanese stab binding as you create a handmade botanical journal inspired by natural forms and thoughtful design.
In this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the foundations of Japanese stab binding (Kangxi-style inspired book structure), including page preparation, precise hole placement, and decorative stitching techniques that transform simple materials into a functional work of art.
Using specialty handmade papers and thoughtfully selected materials, each participant will design and construct a one-of-a-kind journal using a contemporary stab binding method adapted for accessibility and creative exploration.
This is a slow, meditative making experience that blends craft, design, and intention. Participants will leave with a fully completed, gallery-worthy botanical journal and the foundational skills to continue Japanese stab binding independently.
No experience necessary. All materials are included.
