Introduction to Plein Air Painting and Series Kick-Off

Participants in this introductory workshop will be introduced to the types of materials and equipment necessary for a successful plein air outing and to the skills required to have a successful outing., We will discuss plans for developing a Plein Air Painting group at WGAA and begin planning for future plein air experiences.

Offered free of charge to WGAA Members, this introductory workshop will gauge interest in establishing a new Plein Air Group. Costs, locations, exhibitions, and meeting times will be discussed at this kick-off event and we hope it will lead to a monthly series of Plein Air outings led by John Gilbert.

John Gilbert has been part of the Florida Plein Air group in Volusia County. There are groups of Florida Plein Air Artists located in most major Florida cities and counties. As a watercolorist, John participates in the monthly plein air program of The Central Florida Watercolor Society, He recently structured a Plein Air ‘Pop-Up Event’ in conjunction with the Polasek Museum’ 2018 Plein Air Paint Out event, under the direction of Ms. Rachel Frisby, curator of the Polasek Museum. He has taught a plein air class in conjunction with The San Pedro Center, a retreat center for the Catholic Diocese of Orlando, under the direction of Ms. Carol Stanton, program director. San Pedro Center is located in Seminole county.
