Description: Continuing in October (3rd, 17th, 24th, 31st) we will be hosting a 4 week Drawing Fundamentals class with the amazing Marta Crawford as our teacher. In this class, Marta Crawford will guide students through a series of exercises and assignments incorporating the following drawing skills:
1.Learning to measure and find exact proportions to ensure accuracy.
2.Finding shapes and identifying values.
3. Using effective design and placement to develop a strong composition.
4. Determining and using accurate perspective Students will work from photographs and live set-ups and will do multiple short exercises in class and at home to develop accuracy and speed.
Weekly assignments for a completed drawing will incorporate lessons learned in the previous class. The class will be on-going and cumulative; continuity in attendance will ensure the student’s success, since class projects will become more complex as students gain experience over time. Keys to Drawing by Bert Dodson will be the reference book for the class.

• Soft vine charcoal sticks • Charcoal pencils 4b to 6b
• HB Charcoal pencil • Extra soft or 6b compressed charcoal
• Kneaded eraser • Exacto Knife or razor blade (to sharpen pencils)
• 1 18×24 News print drawing pad • Large size of Drawing Paper: 500 Series Charcoal Strathmore or/and 500 Series Mixed Media Strathmore Velum Pads
• Drawing board with clip attached or/ and art tape
• Good size ruler
• Smooth pencils (4b to 8b)
• Paper stumps for blending
• Sandpaper
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Instructor: Marta Crawford, born in Madrid, Spain in 1971, studied Journalism, Art History, and Mass Media Communications. After moving to the United States, she became a full-time artist in the early 2000s, focusing on portraits and still life. Her bold and energetic realism, influenced by her European and Mediterranean heritage, creates an intense impact. Marta’s work has been featured in books like The Best of Worldwide Oil II and International Contemporary Artists IV. She has received multiple honors, including recognition from the Art Renewal Centre and the Portrait Society of America. Her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Florida and private collections worldwide. She loves sharing her knowledge and has taught numerous workshops. Marta will be teaching pencil and charcoal classes.
