SIDEWALK CHALK ART WORKSHOP (Free)

On Saturday, March 2, SOBO Art Gallery and Duke Energy will host an Open Studio workshop for kids, young adults, and families to teach sidewalk chalk techniques and plan for possible participation in “Chalkin’ It Up” Sidewalk Art Contest on April 6. The workshop is open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This “how to” class will start every 30 minutes and then artists can work on their creation with coaching as desired. Participants MUST bring a nature-themed drawing/idea or photo to work from. Basic chalk for practice will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring chalk or chalk pastels in colors needed for your design. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

The workshop is led by Certified Art Educator Lenore Eastham. Lenore has coached many first-place prize winners in the Elementary Group category.

The workshop provides a smaller square for practice. Creating the 6’x 6′ square at the Chalkin’ It Up Contest will be a demanding task so consider working with friends/family. This workshop is a free event (donations happily accepted).
