INSTRUCTOR

Laura Baker is the founder of Second Chapter Binding, a creative studio dedicated to upcycling well-loved books into beautifully crafted hardcover editions. She began bookbinding in 2024 after discovering the craft on Instagram and quickly fell in love with the process of giving paperbacks a second life.

Inspired by a desire to make the hobby more accessible, Laura created Second Chapter Binding to help others try bookbinding without the high startup cost often associated with the craft. Through beginner-friendly workshops and DIY kits, she brings together readers and makers to celebrate literature, creativity, and sustainable book collecting.

Outside of bookbinding, Laura works in training and instructional design at UCLA, where she specializes in creating engaging learning experiences. Drawing on her professional background, Laura creates workshops that are clear, welcoming, and beginner-friendly.
