General Guidelines

The Winter Garden Art Association (WGAA) invites artists to participate in monthly exhibits which feature a variety of subjects, media, and styles. Themes are announced several months prior to the exhibit deadlines. To learn more about our past and upcoming shows please visit our Exhibitions page.

Eligibility: Central Florida artists 16 years and older

Framing guidelines below are only necessary if you have been accepted into the Exhibition. Submissions online should be clear and straight forward vies of the artwork to allow the Jury to zoom in on the image.

Please submit your work by completing the form below on this page between the 1st – 8th days of the month prior to the opening of an exhibition.

Artwork submitted at other times during the month will not be included in our review process.

A copy of your submission form for your records will be sent to the email address you provide. Please contact us at wgartsubmissions@wgart.org if you have questions about the submission process.

We encourage artists who have submitted artwork for acceptance to join us for our Exhibit Opening Reception held on the first Thursday of the exhibition from 5:30-8:00 pm in the SOBO Art Gallery at 127 S. Boyd St. in Winter Garden.

Requirements
Before submitting artwork for an exhibit, please read the following requirements:

  • All works entered must be original concept and design.
  • No prints or works done in a class or workshop that are images or designs of other artist should be submitted.
  • Photography must be of fine art quality.
  • All entries uploaded should be in digital jpg format if possible, no larger than 4 MB or smaller than 1MB.
  • Artists may submit up to 2 entries: none, one, or both may be chosen for the exhibition.
  • Please Label each image you submit in the format: Name_Title_Medium_Size (For Example: John Doe_Flying Fish_Oil on Canvas_16x20)
Framing Guidelines

Congratulations on being selected for an upcoming Winter Garden Art Association Exhibition!! To help us display your work in the best way possible with our hanging system, please follow these guidelines for framing:

• If you are matting your work of art, neutral or off-white mats are preferred.

• If you are using a ready made frame instead of having a frame made by a framing service, make sure there is hanging hardware on the back side of your piece. Photo flap stands are not acceptable and your work can not be hung.Unframed gallery wrapped canvas should also have hanging hardware.

• Wire hangers are preferred and are safer for you art while hanging. Kits with the screw eyes and wire are available at most craft stores and Amazon.

When attaching your wire to the back of your art:

• Screw eyes should be placed in the upper third of your piece.

• Wire should be tight but not too tight, and when stretched should not extend beyond top of frame, but about an inch beyond screw eyes. If there is too much play in the wire your piece may flop or fall forward on our hanging system.

• Make sure your frame is wide enough to accept the screw eyes and they are completely screwed into the wood. Otherwise, they can pop off and your art may fall to the floor. (Note: WGAA is not liable for any damage to your work while it is in the gallery.)

• Work that is not properly prepped for hanging will not be hung in the exhibition.

Please copy the form below and attach info to the reverse side in the upper left corner. If you have 2 pieces in the show attach a form for each.

Thank You!
